The Kaprun tour takes you into the high Alps, where you either marvel at the technical achievements of the Kaprun dams, or enjoy the Glacier World on the Kitzsteinhorn at 3000 m above sea level. This tour combines very well with a relaxing view to the Tauern Spa.
Conquer the Kitzsteinhorn
A visit to the Kitzsteinhorn is always a rewarding experience, whether in summer or in winter. The snow-sure glacier ski area is a real hit for younger visitors in winter with its freeride tours and 3 snow parks. The Gipfelwelt 3000 is somewhere that is accessible for everyone, and has wonderful views from the highest point in the province of Salzburg, and there is a good chance of snow in summer too.
Kaprun dams and reservoirs
Not so high, but still at 2000 m above sea level, the high Alpine reservoirs in Kaprun are accessed by bus and Europe’s largest open cable lift, taking you to the “Mooserboden” reservoir. There are regular tours on offer taking you inside the dam, and the museum “electricity and ice discovery centre” tells you all about hydroelectric power. There are wonderful views, best enjoyed on a walk, and you can enjoy local delicacies in the Mooserboden mountain restaurant.
Take a dip!
We recommend a visit to the Tauern Spa in Kaprun as a relaxing finish to this tour. Here you can take a dip in the pleasantly warm water, enjoy the massage jets, or head into the refreshingly cool sports pool. The perfect way to round off your day.
