Tour in the upper Pinzgau region
Our upper Pinzgau tour suggestion offers you tumbling waterfalls, genuine Alpine life, all sorts to do with water, and the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Water Wonder World
A car journey of a little over an hour takes you to the Krimml waterfalls, one of the most-viewed attractions in Austria. A good place to begin your visit of this gigantic display of nature is the WasserWunderWelten (Water Wonderworld) in Krimml. This is sure to surprise you, with a huge panoramic terrace, a water wonder bar, and a fun outdoor play area and a remarkable projection show.
A walk of about 10 min from the Water Wonder World on a well maintained footpath takes you to the lowest of the 3 waterfalls. The waterfall path takes you all the way to the uppermost waterfall (a walk of about 1 hour, giving you amazing views of the crashing waterfalls).
Falling over 380 m in 3 sections, the Krimml waterfalls are the highest in Europe and a first-class natural wonder.
Krimmler Achental
The last section of waterfall leads into a flat area, opening up into an area known as the Krimmler Achental, a wonderful Alpine environment. A walk of about 2 hours takes you to the nearest Alpine hut offering refreshment. The valley lends itself very nicely to being explored by bike too.
National Park Centre Mittersill
If you still have some time to spare, on the way back stop off at the National Park Centre in Mittersill. Here there are 10 different information zones taking you through the National Park, as if on a walk, through the diverse habitats of the Hohe Tauern.
Entry to the National Park Centre is free with your Hochkönig Card.
